Job Description— Medical Lab Technician

Our client is looking Medical Lab Technician focusing on hematology and chemistry for a lab located in Webster/Clear Lake Area  

Position Responsibilities – Generalist (Chem, Heme, UA, Coag, Micro)

  • Performs and results test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting
  • Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures
  • Performs required Quality Control procedures and Maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within control limits
  • Assists in evaluation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology
  • Participates in opportunities for continuing education and/or teaching, training according to the Section Performance Standards to enhance technical skills
  • Responsible for inventory of supplies

•  Adheres to all regulatory requirements

Other Duties

  • Prepare and perform sample testing according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Recognize deviations from expected results and follow up appropriately.
  • Perform appropriate Quality Control (QC) procedures and produce reports.
  • Manage inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Process and ship samples according to specific instructions.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and maintaining a record of on-going competency.
  • Follow the laboratory procedures for hazardous materials handling, specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Understand legal, regulatory, accreditation standards, and Federal and state laws such as CLIA as required in patient testing as well as an understanding of safety (OSHA) and security (HIPPA) regulations, practices and procedures to ensure work is consistent with standards
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, clean and perform minor repairs of all laboratory instrumentation.
  • Provide other duties consistent with Medical Laboratory Technician role within the Company, as requested.


  • 1-3 years of MLT experience required

Education: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
