Job Description

Maintenance Helper                                   Houston, TX (Shipchannel Area)

General Statement of Duties: Perform all maintenance related activities on any and all equipment in the Houston facility.  This includes repairing and troubleshooting on any mechanical or electrical equipment as needed.

Education: Minimum of high school education with appropriate work experience in a maintenance environment.

Skills and Abilities: Good mechanical and electrical skills developed through either hands on experience or through suitable educational training.  Must be familiar with standard troubleshooting methods as they apply to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibility and Authority:

  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of all equipment in the Houston facility.
  • Responsible for any scheduled and/or preventive maintenance of all equipment in the Houston facility.  This includes completing and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and neatness of the maintenance shop.
  • Train any maintenance personnel working under his control in regards to maintenance procedures and the safe operation and repair of any equipment.
  • Recommends to Plant Manager any repairs or replacements needed on any equipments located at the Houston plant.  Works with Plant Manager in obtaining quotes from vendors to perform any of these repairs or replacements.
  • Installs new equipment on smaller capital projects and helps to oversee outside contractors on larger capital projects to ensure it is performed as quoted.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the overall fire and security systems for the Houston plant.
  • Make machine adjustments or minor maintenance repairs as needed to keep production equipment operational. 
  • Has the co-responsibility along with production supervisors to improve the efficiency of production equipment.
  • Order any maintenance and shop supplies in order to keep plant equipment operational.
  • Ensure all customer owned property and/or equipment is properly maintained.
  • Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the requirements of ISO-9001:2008.  This includes completing and maintaining records of any scheduled and/or preventive maintenance performed on key equipment in the Houston plant.

 

 

Additional Requirements:

Mechanical skills – 2 yrs

Electrical skills  1 – yr

Bilingual preferred but not necessary

Flexible with hours

Willing to work OT, Weekends, Holidays and night shift

Salary: $16+/hr Please provide salary requirements with resume
