Job Description— Chemist

Our Client in East Houston, TX is looking for a Chemist to join their analytical team!

Overview

The Chemist will be responsible for conducting chemical and physical tests of routine and non-routine samples and analyzing data.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses
  • Provide timely, reliable, and accurate quality control analysis
  • Ensure all instruments are in statistical control, correcting or escalating issues as needed
  • Ensure all instruments are calibrated and initiate non-conformances when needed
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all lab equipment
  • Assist in method development and implementation of new lab equipment and analytical methods
  • Inventory and order supplies asneeded
  • Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standard formulas
  • Assist with deriving new product formulas
  • Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, and microscopy
  • Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document results
  • Communicate out of spec product results to appropriate supervisor(s)

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self -Starter
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer proficient and knowledgeable in MS Office and Excel
  • Must be willing to work occasional weekend shifts and overtime
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Must be able to perform simple math calculations
  • Proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science related field required
  • Must have minimum of 1 year industry experience
  • Must have minimum of 1 year Gas Chromatography experience

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Type of Assignment:

Temporary (6-8 weeks)

Pay: $12-14/hr
